Hello everyone!

I’m Ssali Hussein, a postdoctoral researcher.

I would like to share my experience participating in the 2025 Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS), a premier international conference focused on photonics and electromagnetics that was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from November 5th to 9th, 2025.

The conference brought together over 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries, featuring a wide range of presentations covering topics such as electromagnetic theory, optics and photonics, metamaterials, antennas and microwave technologies, terahertz technology, remote sensing and imaging, among others.

I had the opportunity to give an oral presentation on our research results concerning integrated Wilkinson combiner–antenna photomixer devices. It was a great experience to exchange ideas with researchers from around the world and receive valuable feedback.

Chiba itself is a vibrant and welcoming city, and I particularly appreciated the abundance of halal restaurants, which made my stay even more enjoyable.

Participating in PIERS was a truly enriching experience, and I look forward to applying what I learned to my future research activities.
